SYMPOSIUM
Sept 18-19, 2018
Radisson Blu Edwardian, London
As we continue to get closer to the Circular Driven Economy Symposium (less than five days to go), we're delighted to introduce our latest speaker, Kiran Pereira. Kiran is Founder and Chief Storyteller at SandStories.org. Her, she shares the importance of sand, one story at a time. As the most used resource on earth after water, there is plenty to discuss on sand, and through SandStories.org, Kiran works to create awareness about the urgent need to manage our consumption of sand as a resource.
Through SandStories.org, Kiran aims to bridge the gap between science, policy, and industry by identifying and promoting potential solutions to the looming sand crisis. The impact of sand mining formed the topic for discussion in Kiran's dissertation at King's College, London, where she completed a Masters in Environment and Development in 2011. This sparked a real interest in the mining of sand, and since completion of her Master's, Kiran has continued her research into the various aspects of sand mining and the consumption of sand, resulting in SandStories.org. Her, Kiran continues to discuss the importance of sand, one story at a time.
During her talk, Kiran will look at some of the challenges we face in terms of the availability of natural sand resources, and what we need to consider to ensure future generations aren't faced with a scarcity of sand resources. Indeed, SandStories.org's vision is to find and promote people who are working on solutions to the sand issues.
We look forward to learning more about Kiran's research in the world of sand as she opens our event on Tuesday 18th September. This will be followed by our keynote talk from Vincent Basuyau, allowing Kiran to set the scene for an exciting two days of discussion around the circular economy in the construction sector.
