SYMPOSIUM
Sept 18-19, 2018
Radisson Blu Edwardian, London
As we continue the countdown to the Circular Driven Economy, today we're looking at another of our speakers on the topic of opportunities for recovered re-usable materials, Dr. Christian Engelsen. Christian is a Senior Scientist with our research partner SINTEF, and brings vast experience and knowledge in the treatment and recycling of construction and demolition waste. Christian will join Professor Marios Soutsos in outlining where the opportunities for recovered materials exist.
During the symposium, Christian will be showcasing the opportunities that have been identified through research for the re-use of recovered construction and demolition waste material. Christian has been involved in numerous research projects with SINTEF, and he will be highlighting some of the key findings of this research during his talk. Every year SINTEF carry out thousands of R&D projects for private and public sector organisations of all sizes, including many through the SINTEF Building and Infrastructure Institute.
The SINTEF Building and Infrastructure Institute offers specialist expertise in technical fields ranging from architecture and construction physics to the management, operation and the maintenance of buildings, and other forms of infrastructure. These projects aim to solve the challenges that are linked to the entire construction process, and during this talk, Christian will be looking at the solutions to many of these challenges for construction companies.
Christian's research field of interest is the processing and treatment of various waste types, integration of mineral waste into cementitious systems, and technical and environmental performance. He is a specialist in metal binding mechanisms to cementitious systems and materials effect on drinking water. Dr. Christian has been the Norwegian delegate to the European Organisation for Standardisation (CEN) since 2001.
He has 20 years of experience with treatment and recycling of construction and demolition waste and is currently coordinating national and international projects in this technical field. He has published more than 90 scientific papers in journals, book chapters, conference proceedings and technical reports, and also been involved in more than 150 contract research projects.
If you want to find out more about the real opportunities that exist in recycled construction and demolition waste material, and learn about the research work being carried out by Dr. Christian and the SINTEF team in this space, be sure to join us on 18th - 19th September at the inaugural Circular Driven Economy Symposium.
